This project presented an opportunity for young people in Basildon to learn more about the history and heritage of their African and Caribbean local community. The Project recognize and celebrate the contribution made by those who have positively changed the community for black people over the years. The project encouraged young people to take interest in African and Caribbean Heritage to improve cultural engagement with black history through black studies, drumming, food, dance and cultural workshops. Young people were challenged to design their own history project. Participants were provided with training that helped them present their findings through performances/exhibitions at the community cohesion celebration event that commemorated the 30th Anniversary of Black History Month.
